most beautiful songs: india arie

For years, I’ve been handed extra smiles and sunk deeper into my breath with the help of a song or two by Inda Arie. She has a gorgeous voice, writes positive, memorable, and moving songs, and is a strong role model for young women. You may know her best from her hit single Video that featured the lyrics “I’m not the average girl from your video, and I ain’t built like a super model, but I learn to love myself unconditionally because I am a queen…” Personally, I’ve had a few of her songs on extended repeat off and on over the past three years in-particular. Thanks to my friend Nichole for turning me on to the breadth of Arie’s work beyond this sweet little chart-topping ditty. Here are a couple of my very favorite most beautiful of her songs:
