the most beautiful top ten: sounds

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the most beautiful things I’ve heard. I thought I’d list a few here in no particular order.

1. “om mani padme hum” spoken by my dear dear teacher
2. “i love you, sis” spoken by my little brother in his time of crisis
3. “thank you so very much” spoken by an ex-lover
4.  footsteps on the stairs outside that one time, because I was waiting and knew it was him
4. “good night, angel” spoken by a budding love long gone by
5. “i love you, too” he said finally, just before i left
6.  Nimh’s meow at the edge of the parking lot, waiting there like a dog
7.  The Bach cello suites he played in The Great Stupa that summer
8.  Sniffles in the crowd
9.  The flugel horn to that song played on the radio for the first time
10. The breath, mine and yours that night, that summer, watching the full moon rise
